How It Works
KOH is not a conventional campground.
Exact access, camp location and timing matter, so we coordinate the handoff before anyone heads into the desert.

5
We Coordinate Delivery & Pickup
Meeting-point customers tow from the agreed location with an approved tow vehicle and return the RV there at the end of the stay.
Important
Direct campsite service is subject to official access rules, customer passes and permissions, lakebed conditions and safe road access.
Tow requirement
Meeting-point handoff requires an approved tow vehicle, correct hitch/ball, 7-pin connection and brake controller for trailer rentals.
Arrival coordination
Cell service may be weak. Final meeting instructions and a reachable camp contact must be confirmed before delivery day.
Choose RV → Select Logistics → Send Camp Pin → Delivery/Setup → Pickup
KOH Map · Access & Camp Areas
Know Where You’re Going Before the RV Moves
KOH is spread across a desert lakebed, not assigned campground rows. Before direct delivery, we need a camp or team name plus a GPS pin or exact location reference.
⚠
Critical access rule
Boone Road is the only official attendee entrance. We never direct customers or drivers through Camp Rock Road, northern back roads or any route crossing the racecourse.
🕒︎
Why the map matters
It shows the handoff point, the check-in sequence and why exact GPS and camp information matter.

Entrance venue
The Forty
An entrance venue and the lakebed center are not the same kind of camp. Where you stay changes what we need before delivery.
What it is
Atmosphere
Camping status
Delivery need
Best for
A private fenced 40-acre entrance venue on Barnes Road near the official Welcome Tent.
More contained; bar, live music, tent, clean restrooms, firepits and organized venue amenities are advertised.
No general camping. You must have a reservation, invitation or authorized placement.
Exact reserved or authorized location and access contact are required.
Guests who have confirmed access and want a more contained venue near the entrance.

Best for
The temporary off-grid city and event hub built on Means Dry Lakebed.
High-energy race environment with teams, vendors, repairs, dust, spectators and dispersed camps.
Camping outside the Hammertown fence line is generally first-come, first-served on BLM land, subject to KOH passes, closures and rules.
Camp or team name, GPS pin and reachable onsite contact are required.
Racers, crews and fans who want the full lakebed experience close to event activity.

End-of-stay teardown and return pickup
You choose how far we take it. We make the cost clear before anyone heads into the desert.
Not included: mid-stay water refill, mid-stay pump-out, generator fuel beyond the stated allowance, recovery/towing from unsafe terrain, campsite fees, KOH tickets or passes.
Other options: Orange County Self-Pickup — $0 (save $490) · Meeting-Point Handoff near Old Woman Springs Road — $490 round trip · Campsite Delivery & Setup — $690 total (The Forty / Hammertown)
ϟ Power
A generator is required for trailer power at a dry camp. Guests may choose the four-night generator rental as their complimentary add-on or add one separately.
Additional fuel is the renter’s responsibility. Generator use must follow current event quiet/safety rules and safe placement requirements.
💧︎ Water
The RV is delivered or released with the fresh-water tank filled as stated in the reservation. Conserve water; tank capacity is limited.
Mobile water delivery/refill services may be available onsite. Treat them as paid third-party services and book early when possible.
♙ Propane
Initial propane is included. High furnace use during cold desert nights can increase consumption.
Keep the furnace at a moderate setting overnight and keep windows and roof vents closed to hold the heat. Tell us if you expect a long stay or a large group so we can plan for it.
▱ Wastewater
Never dump gray or black water on the ground. Final dumping can be selected as the complimentary add-on or purchased separately.
Mobile service providers operate during KOH and may pump RV tanks at the campsite. Availability, scheduling and payment are separate and can change by year.
⌁ Cell Service
Service can be weak or unavailable. Save maps, meeting instructions and camp contacts offline.
Share your camp or team name and GPS pin with your group before you leave. KOH recommends a GPS and a race band radio in every spectator vehicle.
≋ Weather
Expect dust, wind, warm days and very cold nights. Road and lakebed conditions can change after rain.
Pack warm layers, extra blankets and dust protection for eyes and face. Retract the awning and secure outdoor gear when the wind picks up.
Important capacity note
Large groups can fill gray and black tanks in a few days. Ask about mid-stay service before the tanks are full.
Trash
There is no ordinary campsite trash pickup on the lakebed. Pack out all trash and follow Leave No Trace / KOH rules.
Safety
Camp at least the required distance from the racecourse and follow all current KOH/BLM rules.

Means Dry Lakebed
Hammertown
For roughly two weeks each year, Means Dry Lakebed becomes Hammertown, a temporary off-grid city of racers, crews, fans, vendors, workshops and RV camps.

2027 dates
Jan 21–Feb 6, 2027
Multiple races, hundreds of teams and tens of thousands of attendees.

Who comes
The off-road world
Racers, pit crews, industry teams, vendors, media, families and off-road fans.

Why an RV matters
More than a place to sleep
Shelter from wind and dust, heat at night, refrigeration, water storage, power and a base camp between long race days.

Short KOH History
From a Bar-Napkin Challenge to a City on the Lakebed
King of the Hammers began in 2007 as a trail challenge among a small group of friends and the original OG13. It grew into a major off-road event combining high-speed desert racing with extreme rock crawling.
The lakebed becomes a city. Your RV becomes home base.

Yes. Choose your RV and its four-night KOH package, then select free Orange County pickup, a $490 round-trip meeting-point handoff near Old Woman Springs Road, or direct campsite delivery, full setup and pickup for $690 total.
The package includes the selected RV, initial propane, a full fresh-water tank, standard cleaning and one complimentary desert add-on. Choose a generator for four nights, final dumping, or one kids’ ride-on. Delivery level is selected separately. Prefer to pick up in Orange? That is also included in the all-inclusive KOH package!
Orange County self-pickup has no logistics fee. Coordinated round-trip delivery and pickup at the KOH meeting point near Old Woman Springs Road is $490. Direct delivery to an approved campsite, full setup, teardown and pickup adds $200, for $690 total.
Yes, when you have authorized access and provide an exact campsite, GPS pin and onsite contact. The additional $200 onsite service applies to any exact approved campsite, including The Forty or Hammertown/lakebed areas. Access remains subject to KOH rules, passes, weather and safe road conditions.
The Forty is a private fenced 40-acre entrance venue near the Welcome Tent on Barnes Road, with organized amenities such as restrooms, music and gathering spaces. Hammertown is the temporary off-grid city and race hub on Means Dry Lakebed. The Forty requires confirmed access; lakebed camping is more dispersed and exact locations may be identified by camp name or GPS pin. See the comparison
Use Highway 247, also called Old Woman Springs Road, and enter only through Boone Road. Follow the graded dirt road for about five miles to the Welcome Tent inside The Forty, check in, then continue through the Welcome Gate toward the lakebed and Hammertown. Do not use unofficial back roads or routes that cross the racecourse. See the route map
For a travel trailer at a dry camp, yes. There are no campsite electrical hookups on the lakebed. You may select a generator for four nights as your free add-on or add generator service separately. In most motorhomes, onboard generator use is included; confirm the specific RV. Additional fuel is the renter’s responsibility.
Final dumping is included only when selected as the complimentary add-on or added separately. Wastewater may never be released onto the ground. Mid-stay pump-outs are separate paid services.
Usually. Mobile service providers operate during KOH and offer paid pump-out and water-refill service at camps. Availability and vendors can change, so plan early. Large groups should expect to need service sooner and should conserve water and tank capacity.
The final meeting location and time are provided before delivery. It will be a coordinated accessible point near Old Woman Springs Road rather than an unconfirmed pin deep on the lakebed. Guests towing from the meeting point must have an approved tow vehicle and equipment.
Yes. Guests are responsible for all current KOH admission, vehicle, camping and access requirements. Direct-delivery customers must provide any pass or permission required for our driver and RV to reach the campsite. Official KOH tickets ↗
We need the camp or team name, exact GPS pin or campsite reference, a reachable onsite contact, proof of required access and confirmation that the route can safely accommodate the RV. Cell service may be limited, so provide this information before delivery day.
KOH packages have a four-night minimum and may be extended for as many nights as you need, subject to availability. Each RV listing shows both the four-night package price and its extra-night rate.
Yes. Multiple-RV coordination is available for teams and group camps, subject to fleet availability, dates, access and delivery scheduling. Book early because KOH dates and delivery windows fill quickly.
Desert access and placement can change after rain, wind or official restrictions. We may adjust the meeting point, timing or exact placement if needed for safety and legal access.
